Overview
The Bartercard Cup is SA Rugby's club-based pre-season competition.
The competition is in its fifth year and is positioned to prepare both players and officials for the upcoming 2010 Season home and away series.
The 2010 Bartercard Cup will be held on:
- Friday 9 April
- Friday 16 April
- Community Rugby Day - Saturday 24 April (Finals)
The 2010 Bartercard Cup will include a Premier Grade and a Lower Grade competition each taking the format of a Cup and Plate knockout. All teams will play a minimum of two matches, SA Rugby will endeavor to organise additional trial matches for those teams knocked out of the competition.
Each match will kick off in accordance with the attached schedule and consist of two halves of 30 minutes with a 5 minute half-time interval. Should the temperature be over 35◦c at time of kick off, the match is to be split into four quarters of 15 minutes with a two minute water break at quarter time.
SA Rugby will be trialing substitution cards during this competition in accordance with the new IRB ruling, these cards will be distributed to each team prior to their first match.
Due to the nature of the knockout competition there can not be a draw, therefore should the result of the match be even at full time the following will take place:
- Periods of 5 minutes sudden death until a winner is determined
