Vodafone Adelaide Black Falcons v Darwin Mosquitoes Match Preview

This weekend marks the first hit out for 2009 for South Australia’s own Vodafone Adelaide Black Falcons when they take on the Darwin Mosquitoes. The interstate clash is the feature match at 3pm on Saturday 6 June as part of the Vodafone Community Rugby Day at Burnside Rugby Club, Parkinson Oval, Kensington Gardens.

The Vodafone Adelaide Black Falcons and the Darwin Mosquitoes have been competing annually since 2000, the results going in the favour of the Black Falcons on all but one occasion. That occasion was last year when the Black Falcons travelled to Darwin for Round one of the competition.

Matches between the two sides have been very close over the years and last year was no exception when Darwin took the lead in the final minute to win the game.

The Mosquitoes have had a successful 2009 campaign to date, with a convincing win over Queensland Country on 23 May, beating them 24-12. As this is the first match of the year for the Black Falcons, they have yet to be tested. Black Falcons players to look out for are No. 14 Mika Leawere, a regular try scorer in the domestic competition, and No. 4 Andrew Brown, recently returned from captaining Parramatta in Sydney.

The Vodafone Adelaide Black Falcons travel to Victoria on 20 June to take on the Melbourne Axemen at Etihad Stadium as the curtain Raiser to the Wallabies v Italy Test Match.
