23/03/2009 2009 Bartercard Cup Final

The Bartercard Cup Final (SA Rugby pre-season competition) was held under lights at Brighton Oval on Friday night between Brighton and Burnside. Burnside started well, maintaining pressure on the Brighton line for the first period, however this was to no avail as the Brighton defence kept them out and Burnside missed two penalty attempts. Brighton then turned their dominant defence into attack, scoring twice prior to the half time break, along with a successful penalty going into the break 13 – 0 up. The only points in the second half were by Brighton who scored under the posts on the final whistle, the final score Brighton 20 – Burnside 0.
