Rugby Development in Schools

As part of the South Australian Primary Schools Rugby Union Pathway, the Australian Rugby Union and South Australian Rugby Union run free in-school clinics early in Term 1 each year.

The clinics are designed to prepare students for the SAPSASA Regional Walla Rugby Sevens Tournament to be held late in Term 1. The top two school team/teams are invited to attend the State Championships.

SA Rugby talent scouts attend each of the regionalised SAPSASA Walla Sevens Tournaments to identify any child showing potential in the game of Rugby and are not currently playing for a South Australian club. They will be invited to a series of training sessions where they will be trained in the safety aspects and skills of tackle Rugby.

Upon commencement of training, 2 seven-a-side teams are selected to compete in the South Australian Junior Sevens Championships against club teams from across the State.
